What are the Symptoms of H1N1?

Can anyone tell me the specific symptoms you get when coming down with H1N1?

The official sites are no help at all... they just say that H1N1 has the same symptoms as seasonal flu. But it's my experience that each flu virus has a specific set of symptoms, especially at onset. I used to get the flu every year (before I started getting flu shots), and I remember usually knowing when I got it, because someone warned me that it started with a very sore throat, or a sore neck, or a headache, or whatever.

Having just gotten over H1N1 myself I can tell you what my symptoms were. It started off like a cold: sore throat, cough, runny nose. Then I got a fever and headaches. The fever would be there for a day or two, go away for a day or two, come back, go away, come back...

The thing with H1N1 is that it lingers. From the time I got it until I was over it was almost 2 weeks.

There's a self-evaluation site for H1N1 right here that might be of some help. Take care of yourself.

Does anyone know the types of vaccines and the ingredients in
each?

The reason that the H1N1 influenza is hard to differentiate by the symptoms from any other influenza is because it is still influenza and not a completely different virus. I can tell you as a physician that you cannot tell if it is H1N1 vs seasonal influenza by symptom presentation.

We are pretty sure my youngest son had it a couple of weekends ago. He was tired, achy and had a high fever. Some people also have a cough and feel nauseous (sp?) as well.

I heard today that 75% of deaths from H1N1 in Canada have been women aged 52 and younger. I also heard that the University of Waterloo department that does simulations of viruses tried to do a simulation of this pandemic and were unable to, which worries them.

In order to be sure if you really have H1N1, you have to test yourself using ELISA test kit. This really gives accurately result.
