PM Harper is doing a terrific job in spite of the best attempts of the coup-plotters. Their treasons to Canada will not be forgiven by the voters.

Coup-plotters! Treason! You've been duped, Anonymous. Maybe Archangel Michael will have to smite you too. ;-)

Blessed Michael should SMITE away! (and Anonymous should be added to his 'to smite' list!)

I remember it was not too long ago that we were supposed to fear Paul Martin and his juggernaut getting 200+ seats. Look how that turned out.

So don't start the worship wagon just yet. I know you guys are absolutley desperate to get respect back after the last two disasters you've had for leaders. Groveling at the feet of Ignatieff isn't going to do it.

Grovel... methinks you mistake the Liberal reaction here. Only one party shall grovel at the feet of Michael...

LOL - all anon did was replace the word Harper with Ignatieff. It has been so obvious that all Cons grovel at the feet of Harper. Kissing boots to their mighty King.

Somehow I can't see Iggy as an archangel.

Maybe more of a demon, given his ancestory. He is the grandson of Count Ignatiev who was the Minister of the Interior in the government of Czar Nicholas II. That means his grandfather was the head of the Czar's secret police.

Hi Bert!

Head of the secret police... that sounds like a pretty good description of the Archangel Michael, although in Joshua 5:13-15 he calls himself the "commander of the army of the lord".

However, nice as that comparison sounds, Michael Ignatieff's grandfather was minister of education under Nicholas II, and his other grandfather ran Queen's University. It was his great-grandfather (who died in 1908) who was minister of the interior under a previous czar. Ignatieff describes all this in one of his books.

But his great-grandfather is a fascinating character who has become the stuff of legend. Here's the wikipedia entry on him. I don't think any of this has any bearing on Canadian politics in 2008, but there's some interesting history there.
